Ok my two male mollies have been wrestling over the female for a little while now and it looks like the females tummy is getting bigger! This is my first time having livebearers so what do I do??? I want mommy to be safe, I want the babys to be safe but do I need a sepreate 5 gal for the fry, one of those deviders for my tank so the fry dont get eaten? Help.... :shout:

How many Female do you have? You should have 2 or more female per male so they dont stress her all the time..

Anyway. My Molly had fry last month. You have the choice of letting nature play as much as it can. Most will get eaten, some may survive. You might have up to 50 of these and then again next month! If you want to keep them all to sell on or give away then you will need to fish them into a fry net inside the tank to keep them safe from the others that will eat them. I just fed mine cruched up flakes.

Whatever you do don't feed livebearer fry liquid fry food. They can't eat it, it's too small for them and it pollutes the water. If you don't give them anything else they will starve.

You should get more females if you have two males and one female, because not only will they harass her they may fight over her also. Are these regular mollies or jumbos? Jumbo mollies can have well in excess of 100 fry, but the gestation period is a bit longer, six to eight weeks.

Especially if you do get more females, you are going to end up overrun with fry. I let my females that don't usually have very pretty fry drop in the tank and most of the fry are eaten. The ones that have pretty fry, I place in another small tank to give birth and then rear the fry.
