Hi there,

Any advice please?

We had 2 silver mollies, 1 male, 1 female.
He seemed to be constantly 'at' her ( ) and i read that it would probably be best to have more than 1 female.
So i got another girlie. Problem is........... i've noticed that one female is always chasing after the other female. Over the last couple of days she seems to be getting more aggressive, chasing with her mouth open. This seems strange because they've always seemed so peaceful?
Have i done the wrong thing? Or is this normal? Is it because the male and female were alone at first?

Any advice would be really helpful. :/

Thanks

Wow, I'm surprised! You sure they're both female? How big is your tank? It could be because the male and female were together at first. What happened to the male? Sorry about all the questions XD

Hi,

Yep, i'm sure, going by how the store told me how to tell the difference! :S
The male has the 'magic wand' underneath unlike the girlies which he likes to use constantly!! lol
The male seems to chase after them if the chase starts and breaks it up before using his 'wand' again! lol
I just don't want to see them unhappy. I only bought the second one thinking it would take some of the attention of off the other female

Do you think it may be because the first two paired off together? It wouldn't be because the other one is carrying would it?

I'm puzzled on this one?

i had the same problem with one female constantly after the other, i though it might be because she was the dominant female so i bought a few more females thinking at least the aggression would be spread across the whole group instead of just the one but she actually calmed down from then, maybe she didnt see the other females as direct threats anymore because there was a few of them

stock them in a small group (about 7-10) would have less of this problem (my experience).
