hi folks any info advice would be apriciated , i started my first tropical tank about 8 days ago with 2 mollies this aftermon she poped out about 20 fry 18 have survived but the mum seem to be very eratic often she lays on the bottome of the breeding net motionless, if i try to move the net to see if shes stil alive she goes a little wild thrashing the n calms down on the bottom again , is this normal , ithink this is her first time giving birth, i would like to keep the fry and mum alive so suggestions please,

many thanks

I would let the mum back into the main tank the breeding net can be stressful. Try to catch her calmly and don't stress her by chasing. I'm afraid chances are with livebearers when they feel lethargic they are near there end but i have been proved wrong before so good luck!! :) :)

ok mum molie is back in the main tank but the male mollie is bulliing her now any more sugestions short of capturing the male and keelping in a nt til he calms down

hi gareth, just read your post now.

Sounds not too good but it could be worse, she probobly needs to rest(i think u were right about it being her 1st time). Also, if she is not eating, dont worry, for up to and over 24 hours after giving birth, they dont eat(a safety trick for not eating the young)

Nice to see you and good luck!
