:/ SO I got those SAEs.. pretty fish and quite peaceful with the cories.. but they don;t eat that much algea.. I mean sure they nibble at it on the glass and rocks.. but they don't touch the hair/thread algea on the leaves at all.. :X which is what I got them for.. sight.. guess I should have just got Ottos..

well tomorrow I suppose I will 20/1 bleach the plants to fight the algea on them.. does water wisteria survive the bleach bath? what about chain swords?

SAEs are brilliant at eating green algae off tank decor and plants. They very helpfully nibble the algae without snacking on your plants. We have two, they did eat some hair/thread algae when they were younger. Now they are old and fat and gobble up anything edible in the tank before any of our other fish get a look in.

The best for hair/thread algae are amano shrimp. We bought three one time when we had a real infestation of hair algae after using one of those holiday block things, which really messed up the tank. Within a couple of weeks the hair algae had disappeared. The shrimps are fun to watch as well.
Hope this helps :)

I find amano shrimp to be very effective algae cleaning critters as well, they don't really bother with algae growing on the glass but they do thoroughly pick over tank ornments and plants- the other day i moved a bunch of fake plants from my goldfish tank into my fry tank (which has amano shrimp in it too) which were covered in brown algae, i was really shocked to turn on the tank lights the next day and they'd practically cleaned all the algae off the fake plants in a single night :good: !
