Hi all,

Has anyone kept a reedfish with their cichlids? Mine are predominantly Malawian, with one Victorian. I have one friend at work who has had success with this, though the shop guy was not so sure.

Any experiences or opinions?

Thanks,

Irf.

all I can say, when looking into a reed/rope fish is they like the lower end of the PH scale & softer water.
they are predominately a bottom dweller so anything that makes a cave (so many mbuna)will no doubt take some good nips out of the fish.

other wise, I'd say a pretty cool fish. :good:

Plus, feeding will be very difficult, because of the need for protein rich foods (bloodworm ect),
Which are obviously deadly to mbuna :good:

LOL!!!

OK, thanks guys - that's really helpful. I won't bother now, at least until I have no edible fish in my community tank. The smallest in there are the 20 cardinals, and I've heard they could be regarded as food. When they are no longer there, I'll get a couple of reedfish.

Cheers,

Irf.
