Mixing Platies

Ello there,

I have a male black mozaic platy... wondering if i could get female platy to give it some company, but can i get a different type of platy or would they not breed etc? Like if i got a female red or an orange platy, would it breed with the black male?

Platies will breed with any other platy available.....they aren't choosy

Great stuff, thinking of getting a couple of females as company for my black mozaic platy.... want to get some different coloured ones though.

Hi

You are making a wise choice getting a couple of females to keep the male happy!!

This way if you only had one she would get harassed by the constant courting of the male with two females at least she has a chance for a rest before hes after again.
