I'm soon going to be swapping to a bigger tank, which is 90l.
I have 2 platys, male and female.
A female molly and a baby molly.
I was wondering if i got 2 clown loaches when i get my bigger tank to eat the snails, but would this be a bad idea??

Clown Loaches like to be kept in groups of arround 5, also they require a tank with aprox 200L min, so really it would be a bad idea as they would grow to bit for the tank!

Well yes, because clown loaches would prefer to be in larger group than just a pair, and can reach over a foot long :).

I would recommend something smaller like 3 zebra loaches to destroy snails, they are very fun fish too.

I'm afraid a 90litre would be far too small for clown loach, something like the dwarf chain loach should be ok though,
Also IMO clowns may eat 1 or 2 snails here and there but they certainly won't erradicate a tank of them.

hi
clown loaches would need a much bigger tank than 90L im afraid, more like a 4ft -5ft eventually, and also they do a wonderful job at eating snails, but are such beautiful fish that i wouldnt get them just for that, they are proper little characters, they would be absolutley fine in with your other fish, they dont bother anyone, except plants ( which they rip out by the roots!! IME),
but NO defo not in a tank that size, unless you intend to go even larger anytime soon, im sure that there must be another fish that eats snails, but i have no idea what they are,as my loaches tanke care of any we may find, sorry to be the bearer od bad news, but i hope you find a suitable alternative
