Mixing Gravel And Sand

ok ive got my eye on a new large tank and in my tiny tank ive got some brown/natural like gravel and in my new tank (24days and counting till the end of my GCSE's and my new tank ^_^ not that im counting :look: ) i want a mix of like 9:1 sand to gravel aka mostly sand with some gravel but would the gravel over time sift to the top and compact the sand
(the gravels 2-3 mil ish)
(i plan to have about 8-10 cories)


i suppose abit like this
but with darker sand and slightly more gravel %

i know that that was worded terrible but hey i had a german listening to day simpathy people sympathy
lol

anyway this is mostly thoughts bouncing in my head and theres still a while before i can get it but what your peoples thoughts

Over time the gravel would sit on top of the sand, yes. I have a tank with rock, sand and gravel and the gravel is sitting on the top. Only a few rocks have been covered, mostly by the fish digging in the sand. I don't think it would compact the sand though. It would have to be heavier gravel than that. More like large rocks.
 
SYMPATHY INDEED - im doing my junior cert next week ( the irish equivalent of gcse's ) lol , as for the actual topic im interested as to what people say as i want a similar substrate
 
ace and luck furryrabbit, i just seen quite a few pictures of it done but never met anyone or seen any real life/photo graphs on TFF and i think it looks great so i think its a go :good:
now just got to do 13 more exams, maths none calc next j-o-y

sorry bit stupid but why are you wanting to mix them? for how it would look i suppose? other then that i would think it should be ok.
