now this seems odd but i was reading some other posts in regards to mollies and guppies so my question is... can a female guppy mix with a male sword tail???? cuz i a male swordtail and female guppy alone in my tank for like 3 days then male randomly died.... and ya... but i had put a male guppy in the same day the sword tail died... and then pregnant... (not sure exactly when knocked up) but knocked up indeed :) so can they mix?

Nope. They can't.

If you all want a good way to figure out what can breed with what, find out the scientific name. Look at the first word. If they both come from the same family, they can breed.

For example:

Molly = Poecilia latipinna
Guppy = Poecillia reticulata
So Mollies and Guppies can breed.

Swordtail = Xiphorphorus helleri
Platy = Xiphophorus maculatus

Platies and Swordtails can breed.

And there's an easy way to tell if your common Livebearers can breed. :)
