Mistaken Identity

Hi Trace, in the vid the holding fish does look yellow and could be a lab but the pic earlier shows the same fish as bright orange, which would make it an Estherae. Its possible you do have a pair of labs and its just the lighting on that pic.

Is it bright yellow or bright orange? That will answer it. :)

well to me its yellow. some 1 the other day refered to it as being orange. she does have a bit more of a tint of orange if that makes sence lol. i think you just gona have to come visit & decide for ya self lol. but if they are both yellow labs, now this is the confusing bit i've not noticed any kind of spawning activity going on  now i supposed this could have been going on while i'm not looking i just don't know, god i'm so confused now lol

I think its likely now that you have 2 labs for 2 reasons:

1. It is very unlikely that an Estherae and a lab would interbreed.

2. Estherae are a really bright orange and very different to the bright yellow labs, if there's any confusion its probably a lab.

Any chance of another close up pic of the fish in question? should be able to tell by body shape if the colours not clear. :D

right will have to try that 2moz cos the batteries have just gone on the camera, bloody thing don't half go throu a lot of them lol.
did you manage to look at the other pics on my photobucket ??? or did you just look at the vid ??

Looked at the pics too but there wasn't another clear one of the lab/estherae. Whats with the smoking kills pic?

lmao only put the fag packet to show the size of the bag that the betta is in lol.
i still need more batteries yet cos my camera just seems to eat them lol.

Get some rechargeables if you can, digi camera's really do eat batteries.

i have got rechargable batteries but 1 of them is missing as well :grr: :grr: kids who needs them lol
will get it sorted but will be after weekend now cos we going of to our van tonight :good: :hyper:

Caravan is that? anywhere nice?

This might be slightly off the thread topic but can I ask where you (Ferris / Trace1) get your Fish from please, I`m the other side of the Pennines (Halifax) but I pass manchester often. I`ve been to a lot of LFS/Aquatics shops and so on in West Yorkshire but not really found anywhere really good for Cichlids most have them labelled up as "Malawi Cichlids" or "Mixed Cichlids" I think I read somewhere there are over 1,400 Cichlids so I suppose it`s not easy to identify them for the average shop.

Tingley Tropicals seemed decent J28 M62.

Oasis in Salford, really good professional place and great for Cichlids. Website link below, sites not great but it gives you directions etc. Well worth a visit.

@Clareuk - Pretty sure that last pic is a female Socolofi Clare, which is what trace1 has.

@ Nick sw - The Mbuna in my Avatar is a Pseudotropheus Demasoni.
