Missing Tail

One of my female bettas is missing a piece of her tail. could that be a battle wound or evidence of something more?

She has probably had a scrap with one of the others hun, just keep the water clean and perhaps add a lil bit of melafix to stop infection

that looks like the problem.. i think i should add one or two more to the tank to help spread the aggression a little better

Just seen you sig, 4 is an ok amount but more is always better lol

i have four females together in a ten gallon.... at most i could only have about 5 or six without over crowding, right??

6 would be fine in there hun. Make sure you also have places they can get away from each other. 4 is still ok tho, they will have arguments every now and then as long as they have places to get away from each other.

i would post a pic of the tank..

theres a cave the biggest one stays in and 8 sets of fake plants that create hiding places because of the way i bunched them up. the same lfs store near campus has the most beautiful and healthy bettas i have ever seen, they take good care of them! i will probably swing by there and pick up so more females if i find some pretty ones.

Ok hun sounds like your tank is set up perfect. If and when you do get a couple more girls if you can remove all from the tank for about 10 mins then put them back with tthe new girls it will be best but if not do a large water change before you add them just to confuse the original girls a bit and ease any bullying on the new ones. Good luck and i hope you get your cam fixed so we can see pics

Soooooo.. I got two more females.... and in the last couple of days they have been picking with each other a awful lot.... two females are at least twice the size of the others.. i even began 2 question if big bertha was a big bert lol... but she wasnt... i spread the live plants out more to give them a bit more room 2 hide than they had before... and it looks like that worked to kill alot of the aggressive i saw... all my females seen to have fin damage now so i had to do something to help em out..my new girls had damage after 24 hours.. i even tookt hem out.. seperate them all so they were one by one (two fo them jump out of the containers they were in and scared the living daylights outta me).. and did a partial water change.. added live plants.... and then replaced them back in the tank in different areas within the tank(adding the two new girls)...

heres a pic of the tank setup i have.... i have a filter from my 2.5 in the tank to slow the water down and have put my powerful filter in another tank for the time being...
Nevermind the males at the bottom of the screen in the pic.. they are only in that small tank for the time being.... they will be moved to a ten gallon of theyre own... dont kill me for having them in that small tank....

Some girls can take a while to settle, you have done all the right things by removing them all then adding them back and things, they should settle just fine. Sometimes you will get a rouge girl who will like to pick fights and sadly this can't be helped much. Any way i hope they do settle ok...keep us posted

Come to find out... Big Bertha wasnt a girl in the first place.. she was a pk male... and had been sold to me as a female.. she stayed in the cave so much i couldnt get a good look at her... but now i know shes a he lol

Well i took Oops (FKA Big Bertha) out of the tank and gave him his own one gallon tank.. The girls tank has calmed down alot even with the additional of a new (and very young) female i found the other day in the store (lol.. she was calling me from the shelf).. So now i have a new edition to the girls.. Cloud is her name.... and Oops had been rehomed....

the peace is restored... lol
