yesterday we bought some new fish, we bought in total 7 guppy's this morning we only have 6  i have counted and recounted and before we went to bed last night all were accounted for and seemed well. i have searched the tank checked the pump plants and any other hidey holes but i cant find it anywhere. we have 3 corys 2 cichlids and 4 tetra, would any of the other fish have eaten the dead one?

Just as a thought, what cichlids are they and did the guppy have a particularly long flowwing tail?

He may have been eaten i am afraid?

Hope he hasnt and that you find him

they are kribensis cichlids, i dont remember the guppy having a particularly long tail, just the same as the others really.

Kribs can be a bit nippy but they are usually bottom dwellers and guppys tend to sleep near the bottom. It may have just been stressed out from the journey home and they cleaned up the remains.

Its always a bit sad when this happens.

thats a shame, we do have a garuntee for the guppy but with no evidence i dont know if they'll honour it.

Its a shame. Most people however have guppys coming out of their ears. Did you get a mix of males and females, reason being is before you know it you will have fry swimming all over the place and will have more guppys than you know what to do with. Especially if they have lots of hiding places.

to be honest i dont really know what sex they are, we havent had fish in the tank for quite a while apart from a cory as we had some problems with stabalising the tank after moving house. before we had mollies tetras and corys so i dont know much about sexing guppys. we werent going to get any as we had heard how they are very inbred now and can be quite delicate but the bloke at the aquatic shop seemed confident that one of the bunches he'd got were pretty hardy as he'd not lost many whilst they'd been there. they are smaller than normal guppys at about 2cm long at the most

The females are fatter and the males are slimmer and more colourful. type in sexing guppys on google and you will get a few good pictures. If you have a mix of the two then you will soon find babies.
