I've had a few guppies in a 10 gallon aquarium for a few months and there are three generations of guppies living together. Before last night, there was a total of 11 guppies and 1 two-inch pleco. I found out that three of my guppies had disappeared this morning. I found one of them which was from the middle of the three generations (still quite small in size). Another of that generation is missing along with one of my larger females. I think that the smaller one may have possibly been eaten, but I cant understand what happened to the larger female. Could my pleco have eaten eat? Please help me out!

What type of pleco do you have do you know? If not try describing his colors and designs...

Also is there any way they could jump out of the tank? Could a filter have sucked them up by chance? Have you moved any ornaments or gravel they may have gotten covered by?

a bristlenose plec will eat a dead body, so if you have a BN then that could explane what heppend to the larger female but then again it is only 1 inch in length.
i wouldn't be that woryed, ive lost more than enough fish inn the past but eventualy most show up, if there gone for more than 3 days then in a 10gall you can start to get sonserned as a dead fish will polute the water, if the water stays stable though then give it a week or two. (i've lost a guppy for 3 weeks before then suddenly it was swiming around with the others)

im not sure what kind of pleco i have. he's a lighter color of brown with darker brown spots and has some raised areas of skin in front of his eyes. they look like nostrels. hes no more than 2 inches in length. regardless, i've removed him from the tank.

i've checked under each ornament, under each rock, and through my filters thoroughly and the missing fish are nowhere to be found. i've checked all areas around the tank too and i'm pretty sure they didnt jump out.

the larger female had been acting odly the past two weeks, spending most of her time laying on a large leaf of a fake plant and seldomely eating. i suspect that there was some sort of confrontation between her and the pleco late at night and she fell victim to him in here weakend state. i've read that the pleco will eat "anything it can fit in its mouth", so i've decided that for the sake of my guppy family he's got to go. there was a sufficient amount of of natural algae in the tank, so i really never fed him any algae wafers. im sure that this could have something to do with it

im sure after a few more generations of guppies emerge, i'll be wishing something WOULD eat them.. haha

i'm really now more concerned about whether the fish died naturally or were attacked
