Missing fish

Please can anyone tell me where do fish go when they dissapear. I got home yesterday and noticed one of my platys was not there - the tank is not that big but after 4 hrs of searching i stil could not find find him/her - can anyone shed some light on this Phenomenon.

Please tell what you keep with your platy? What type of filer do you use?
I haven't heard about the fact that platy can jump so i personally think that he/she didn't go out that way.

I keep 1 red tailed black shark - (small 2")
3 gouramis (3" long)
1 dawarf gourami
2 dwarf rainbows
and 12 glowlight tetra
+ 8 other platys

8 plants and 1" of gravel at the front and 2" gravel at the back

I ALSO USE A FLUVAL 4 PLUS FILTER - I have checked the filter and it isnt in there either
