Missing Fish!?

Hey,

I'm new to the board so hi to everyone I'm Jen.. I'm in a bit of a jam at the moment. I've lost a fish! Currently I have 17 fish in my tank and they all get on happy as Larry 8) However, I've gone to the tank today to feed the beggars and my Ram Cichlid is missing

I can't see her anywhere in the tank at all, have looked in all the regular hiding places, on the bottom, on the top etc etc and just can't seem to find her. Now I'm worried that she's somehow got out?

About a month ago a similar thing happened, one of my neon tetras went missing for about 3 days and then suddenly appeared again of it's own accord. Is this a regular thing that fish do to keep us guessing? Any ideas on what could have happened to my favourite little buddy?

Here's hoping she hasn't been nibbled up

Well one of my friends Zebra danios went missing, she came to the conclusion that it died and they ate it. Maby the same thing happened!

Did you look around outside of the tank? Sometimes fish will jump out of the water and land on the floor.

Yeah, I've checked all round the tank and I couldn't find her The hood completely covers the tank as well and has a pretty hefty lighting system on it so I don't *think* she could've got out? It hasn't been opened since this morning when I fed them either and she was in there then after I put the lid back on

*sigh* I just can't understand it... I think if she'd have died between this morning and when I noticed she was missing there'd still be bits of her if they'd started to munch on her

Maybe she just gone on holiday! B)

I had a red tail black shark that managed to jump out of a 1" wire hole in the top of my Juwel Rekord 70. Found it dead on the floor behind the cabinet

In my experience fish a knack for random disappearing and coming back again. If you have lots of objects like bogwood, rocks, plants they seem to be able to get into the weirdest places.

Also just to check, what other fish you got in with the ram?

Other fish are some neon rainbows, neon tetras, an ancistrus and a pair of very young angels. Yeah I'm hoping she's just hiding.. There is lots of plants, some rocks, a couple of hiding "ornaments" and quite a large bogwood so maybe she's just playing games with me.

It's just unusual for her as she's normally first up to eat and to come out and see me when I come in the room I'm figuring there's nothing I can do about it now except hope she turns up soon.

I'm glad you said they have a knack of disappearing and re-appearing.. That's what I've been waiting for someone to say!
