Hi all,

One of my Rasboras has lost its left eye. He seems fine, is swimming fine [though only turning right] and eating fine. Should I leave him be or euthanise him?

Adam

We have an albino cory who lost an eye (think one of the angels got it) and was swimming about with a wee stalk thing hanging out for ages(eeuuuuggghhh!!) but he is grand and we left him be dont htink any treatments were put in but would need to check with Big Mick.

So I would leave your fish and see how he gets on ours has doubled in size since this happened and it hasnt held him back at all!!

Good luck hope he's ok!

Cheers!

This one doesn't have a stalk, I would assume that was the optic nerve on yours!

I have had and have several fish with only one eye.
Provided the eye is not infected there is no need to euthinise.
if the loss is recent I'd do a course of melafix to help prevent infection and aid healing of the surrounding tissue.

I have a totally blind Bronze Cory named Blind Bob. She's feeding okay. Fun to watch her surface and dive back down, especially when she bombs one of the other tank mates! :D

We've had her over a year now. She's survived open sores, white spot, ich and finrot. As you can see from the pic, her barbles have grown back too!
