All my cardinals were fine this morning, then later I found one dead with it's tail missing. Is it possible for cardinals to eat each others tails. I found him in a fake plant next to the heater could this be the cause.

It is not beyond the realms of possibility that the little guy died and his buddies had a nibble however what other fish do you have in the tank?

I havent heard of cardinals actively nibbling at a live fishes tail, however im sure they would take the oppurtunity if the fish was dead or dying

Steve, have a close look at the other Cardinals, do they all look healthy or do they have signs of white spot or finrot?

I am hoping he just popped his clogs & the others had a nibble but it is best to check.

I checked them and added meds for white spot but today they have in fact got fin rot. What sort of water change do I need to do before adding med for fin rot.
