I got a 30 gal hex tank from a friend and it has a mirror for a background, will this stress the fish? If so, can I paint it safely?

Scott

it depends on what you stock in the tank some fish would be very stressed some would not care, and yes you could paint it as long as you get the correct paint :)

I have 2 False Percula Clownfish and 1 Coral Beauty Angelfish, I'll probably buy a Royal Gramma Basslet later on. What kind of paint is safe to use?

could you remove the mirror? i wouldnt use any paint on the inside of the tank either

you can use the same paint that you use on boats hulls, thats non toxic, but expensive.

i must admit i dont know if you fish would like a mirror or not, hopefully someone else will answer that one :)

Can't remove the mirror it's actually part of the tank. The tank is made by Oceanic, an older one I gather. I assume it should be safe for most fish since Oceanic put the mirror on the tank in the first place. It will probably just make the tank a lot brighter and seem like it has more depth.

I don't know, I don't think your angel would like it, 'cause they don't like other angels. I really don't think a royal gramma would like it either. But then I'm not sure how to hide it...
