Miracles Vs Skimmers

Hi, I'm thinking about starting a 55 gallon marine tank and wanted to know how much miracle mud you would need to support this tank, and also, what kind of protein skimmer I should be looking for.

Also, does anyone here use both these methods and have opinions on which one is better?

I don't know about the miracle mud as I've not used it yet

I use a TMC V2 400 skimmer which works a treat and is not too expensive

i actually use a skilter, a filter with a built in skimmer, it actually works great and saves me money and space, you should check it out...
