as some of your know iv been trying to spawn a pair of my bettas with little success. in the last 2 days i made a second attempt that went a little bit better but the male didn't build a nest and both fish seemed to lose interest quite quickly. i removed them the other day with plans to try again next week but today when i removed the suran wrap from the top of the tank so i could clean it up and prepare it for next week i spotted 2 eye balls and a tail hovering along the bottom. it was a betta fry. so far he is the only one iv found but im going to hold off on cleaning and keep and eye out for more. im not exactly sure how it happend, the male never seemed to do much more that float and the female spent the whole experiance down in the fake plants. the female was out of her vase only twice during the spawn, once for 30 minuts and then again for an hour, the second time was the only time that tank was not closely monitored so perhaps i missed something -_- im pretty excited about this lil fry and i hope i find more. ill keep u updated if i find anymore of the little guys ;)

:D does anyone know how long it takes the eggs to hatch with out a nest and with water at 70 degrees (F), i know thats low and it should be higher but i cant get a heater down in there, the water temp was like 80 before i removed the parents -_-

Get a heater so they could hatch 70 is very low..

also put in some mthylin blue so he doesnt get fungus and feed him many MWs..

I'm confused...how was it heated during the spawn, but not now  70 is waaaaaay too low, that's almost hypothermic for a betta, I doubt they will hatch in that :/

i understand the heating problem, im trying to kepp my room heater. the tank is a little over a foot tank and the heater wont reach that deep, the suction cup on it wont suction either. during the spawn i kept my room very warm and that kept the water 75-80 ish but i didn't think anything happend so i cooled the room a bit. im trying to get it warm again and iv got the 1 baby i found in a bowl on a heater pad, he cant swim yet, do i just starte him on mw after he is free swimming? the water does have meth blue in it to keep him fungus free.

No -_- , unfortuneately the little guy didn't make it throgh the night. i kind of expected it i guess i really wasn't redy to find a little fish swimming in the spawn tank -_- , i dont think anything is going to hatch now. im busy prepareing the tank again for the third spawn attempt, iv been conditioning the parents in indian almond leaves and feeding them their weight in betta bites so hopefully this time there will be success. i will have heating in this next spawn, that was a very stupid thing for me to do that last time.

Awww sorry to hear the little guy didn't make it :/

Good luck with your next spawn. It sounds like you're doing all you can
