Hey all,

just quickly wondering what you all reckon the minimum tank size for a pair of Apistogrammoides pucallpaensis would be? Their full adult size is only approx 2.5 cm, and for a while I had them in my big community tank. I think they're pretty much fully grown already. The female betta took far too much interest in them as they are so tiny, and so they're in a divided 60 ltr at the moment. They have approx 30 ltr to themselves with bogwood, rock and plants. Do you think this'll be ok long term or am I going to have to eventually move them back to the community?

Thanks for any thoughts :good:

The minimum for a pair would be 15 gallons, but they could be ok in a 30 litre for a little bit

pair can live for life in a 10G but 15+ would be best. They do best with one male to multiple females so it might be worth getting 1 or 2 more females and adding them to the community tank once there big enough.

Ah well, was worth a try :)
I have noticed that the male seems to be chasing the female around a bit, so I will see if the guy I bought them from would be willing to sell me a couple of females. I'll also buy some small slate caves for them before they go back to the community tank.

One last questions if you guys don't mind- after I add the apistos back to the community plus at least one extra female, do you think I could get away with adding a bristlenose plec in there for help with algae control? Or would that be pushing my stocking levels?

Cheers guys :)
