Hi Ben,
Firstly what sort of Shelldwellers were you thinking of keeping?
If you have some ideas it will help determine what size tank and set up. :)

i only want to keep the smallest kind. And i don't want loads just a pair of trio or something.I knwo about there habitat like shells etc.

Neolamprologus Multifasciatus are probably one of the smallest only reaching about 1.5". You could get away with a pair/trio (male & female or male & 2 females) in a 10G tank but bare in mind that they will more than likely breed. It seems spawns can produce up to about 15 fry but not all of them survive. If you plan on keeping the fry then you are probably best investing in a 25G upwards, plenty of room to keep aggression at bay.

I'd say so, anything smaller and you may notice a lot of aggression.

Not as far as I know, I believe that they prefer to be kept in a pair or a group.
