My sisters got a small tank, it measures 80cm l x 40cm h x 30cm w. She wants an angel or 2 but i'm a bit dubious about the size. I've got some in my 4ft tank so they have plenty of room to swim, i've roughly measured my largest one and its about 5 inches tall.

What would your recommendation be for a minimum tank size for an angelfish.

cheers

that is 25 US gallon's. I would say you can safley put 2 in there( make sure they are a pair, or your screwed) and some lievbearer's and the like.

 what you'd want is at least a 29g (a standard two feet tank) to comfortably house a pair. if you're not into breeding, i recommend you try to get two of the same gender. aggression issues most likely wont surface amongst juveniles but as they grow you might want to keep an eye on them.

Make sure the tank is relatively high as well, angels need the height.

I have seven angelfish in my 75 gallon take. You MIGHT be able to get away with two in there. They reason that they need a bigger tank is because they can be aggressive. I have a big school because the aggression is spread out. I don’t know why they are called “angel” fish because they sure are no angels.

I would say yes. When i said 2 could go into a 25 g i was assuming that it was over 12 inches tall. Most angels get around 6 inches tall. But some like the veiled tials can get up to 12 and Altums can get to 18. I keep a single angel in a 30g tank. If you want a pair, get around 6 babeis and let them pair off, adn then take the others back.
