Hello, i've really liked the look of cichlids for a while. However I had already started a community tank when I started to like cichlids.

Basically, before reading into them and getting excited about getting them. I was wondering if there was a type that would go in a rekord 70 as I can get my hands on another tank of 70L

Thanks for your time.

Hey
A trio of either Dicrossus filamentosus (checkerboards) or Apistogramma cacatuoides (cockatoos) would work well,
with something like 6 cardinals and maybe a few shrimp or otos to finish.

Are ram relatively easy to keep? what are there requirements and do the species of ram vary?

Rams arent hard to keep providing you can give them good quality water, which means 0 ammonia, nitrIte and as low as possible nitrAtes, preferably under 20ppm.

They prefer soft acidic water, ph 6.6-7.2, but many are tank bred and therefore the ph can range up to 8.0, but they do not thrive as well in that high ph.

Bolivan rams are the hardier of the rams, german blue rams being more sensitive and people find them harder to keep.

In a 20g tank, you could have 2 either bolivian or blue with a small shoal of tetras.
