I curently have 11 molly fry, roughly 3 weeks old, and I wanted to get another tank set up for them until they get bigger. They are In a breeder net right now, in the main tank. I was going to make a net divider to seperate my expecting molly, so I don't have any room for the fry I have now...... :/ :/ :/

But, what size would I have to get to house the fry until they are big enough to give away/ put in the main tank full on??:/ :/

HELP!

Interesting question and there is no real right answer and will depend upon your own personal situation.

I have seen quite a few experienced breeders set ups; one in particular provided their fry with tanks around 12x8x8 (12 litres) and this is probably getting on for the smallest size you can get away with but you will have to change the water every day at least (as he did) to ensure good growth. My own preference is to use aquaria of around 50 litres and to stock lightly with no more than 6 fry per tank; I have the space and do not have time to do daily water changes and this is a good substitute for the care and time which a smaller growing on tank requires.

So if you have time; you will be able to get away with a tank of 20 litres or less; if you do not then go for a larger tank 24x12x12 or similar.

I hope this helps.

pretty much as above but basically the bigger the tank the faster they should grow. Do regular partial water changes to dilute the hormones released by the fry and that will also help them grow. Feed them really well and keep the water well filtered.
