Hi all,

I've got a very small snail problem, i'm taking on average 1(small snail) per day out of my tank, not a major problem i know, but as we know they are pesky little devils, i was wondering if i should get an assassin snail to help as i don't want to put any chemicals in the tank.

My tank is overstocked as i'm holding some fish for friend, but all fish are community fish and all get on together. I currently do 2 water changes per week, about 10% mid week( a quick gravel vac to remove the pellet food for the corys and catfish) and a 50% every week( with a major gravel vac)

If i do get the Assassin snail and he helps with my problem what do i feed him?

Or is there anything else i should be considering?

Many thanks in advance,

Mark.

put a bit of lettuce in there by the morning they will all be munching on it and u can lift it out and put it in the garden, then you have to worry about the eggs that they have probably laid, so maybe do this every night :/ or interpet make a product called " sail away" no dea if it works tho :)

1) cut down on feeding
2) get an assasin snail if possible- or dose tank with womer plus(kills snails and other parisites+worms:)
3) do what shelagh suggested if you are using assasin snails
4) clean substrate twise as often as you are doing now

combine all of these steps and get rid

I feed my fish 6 days a week, 5 days on flake food, monday to friday, saturday they get either frozen bloodworm or brine shrimp, both rinsed before adding them to the tank, i don't feed them on a sunday, so i can't cut down on the feeding they always eat what i put in, in under 2 minutes.

But if i do buy an assassin snail do i still have to put the lettuce in to catch the snails or should i buy 3 assassin snails?

May thanks in advance,

Mark.

no i mean cut down, not feeding them less often, feed them less, so that minimal waste food(flake or frozen foods) is entering the substrate for the snails to eat
