I was wondering if it is possible to breed migratory behavior out of fish over time. With all the captive breeding taken place, is it possible to breed out such behavior and others like it? I know for example some sharks, and more common the Prochilodus undertake large migration patterns for spawning. I know experiments have been carried out to eliminate certain behaviors in animals like dogs, so could the same thing happen to these types of fish over several generations? Just a random thought.

No problem- select a group of migratory fish. When they migrate, pick the ones left behind and breed them. Ideally chose ones which are otherwise healthy, as ill health might be a causative factor in them not migrating. Do this for a few cycles and hopefully you should be left with a group of suitably stationary fish. Easier said than done. Might be easier to use a net.
