Hello to the tropical fish forums and all its members =)

I live smack in the middle of Canada on the Sask prairies where we are currently experiencing -36 degrees celsius...Excellent temperatures i know. My Father has been a fishkeeper for over 25 years and has bred multiple different species in our home.I myself am 19 years old and have roughly 10 years experience with breeding fish and general tank care. I quit for a few years and now i have just got back into the hobby and hope to share my knowledge and lend a hand to anyone who needs some help.

My current setup is a 35 Gallon with about 6 Black Mollies. 3 Females and 3 Males

Few of them were moving a little too fast for my phone.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum! :good: Nice looking tank. Just a little unsolicited advice... you should up your number of female mollies. They tend to do better in a male/female ratio of 1/2.

Currently the tank is going through a cycling process as i just set it up a few days ago. So i'm hoping if these survive i will be able to add a few more females to the mix =)

I see. You are doing a fish in cycle. Hope it all works out for you. Don't forget to check the water parameters everyday and do the appropriate water changes.

Yeah i'm too old school for the fishless cycle. So far after week one of fish in cycling i have 0 Ammonia and 0 nitrite in my water. I expected much more then that but so far the fish are thriving and the tank is doing great.

Old school?! Now you sound like me. How long have you been in the hobby? 40+ years here and I still have never done a fishless cycle. Gonna try it one of these days. I always clone a mature filter and away I go!

At the age of 19 i have about 10 years worth. Which is surprising due to my age i suppose. My dad has been in the hobby since before i was born. When i was 6 years old i bred guppies as my first successful breeding venture. After that it took off from there. I've done Convict chichlid's, electric blue ahli's electric yellow labs, blue maingano's, swordtails for awhile etc... I had a regular community tank filled with neon tetra's and other community fish for years. When i turned 16 i lost track of it a bit and now i've regained much interest with much more knowledge and there's just too many different things to do with them that I couldn't resist =) I'm hoping to do a saltwater tank eventually and perhaps even challenge my Dad in his betta splendens legacy. He's pretty renown amongst the family of breeding very colorful and healthy betta's. Nothing like a bit of healthy competition =)
