mid-top dweller cichlids

hey
when i look at my tank i always have to look down as my cichlids are always in the caves and always at the bottom, the only top dweller is my Festivum,
can anybody recomend semi-aggresive mid/top dwellers for a 40g?

40 gal - 1 jewel,5cons,2 juvue sevs, 2 b noses,2 blue acara(juvie),2 firemouth(juvue),2 festivum

I'd say you have enough cichlids in there for now, the only peaceful cichlids that come to my mind as mid or top dwellers are Uarus, discus, and angels. There are the other large cichlids that are extremely aggressive too.
Cichlids tend to be bottom dwelling fish, they usually only hang out at the top of the tank to wait for food, in the wild they would be near the bottom to avoid potential predators or to ambush other fish. They would also defend their territory and fry near rocks and caves on the bottom of any river or lake they live in
