Mid ground Mystery

Found these mid ground plants near the shoreline of a local lake. No idea what they are..
extra information:
All plants were found submerged in at least 1-3 inches of water.
Plants were found in northern NJ

Look interesting. I'd check thoroughly that they aren't harbouring any unwanted hitchhikers before putting them in a tank.

I'm just wondering what they are for possible future use, I'm not putting them in my tank just yet
