i set up my microworm culture last wek and went off down to wales for a friends wedding, just back yetserday and looked in on the culture and i thought there was a dead mouse in the corner! there is a big ball of balck furry mould growing in the corner, and a couple of smaller tuffts now too. im not sure if i have many worms in there, to be honest im not sure what im looking for, but i cant see nothing. has the mould killed them? should i start a new culture? how do i prevent mould?

Hmmm i had a lil bit of mould on my first culture but once it got established it vanished. However it was nothing like dead mouse looking. Perhaps it would be best to remove that bit. Right to see if there is any thing you need to get a small torch and shine on the surface you should see movement but you do need to look hard. I hope it is all ok still

ok this is what it looks like. dout you can see but there is now also blue-isg mould on it too. i can see the worms crawling around the sides now so its still a live culture. should i just leave it or just remove the mould, or start afresh? it looks quite dry aswell, its been going for over a week now, should i sprey with a little water?

wow that has gone mouldy. They would of been better in a dark container rather than a clear one, which could be whats helping the mould grow. Where have you been keeping the container? A little more moisture would probably be a good thing as it looks a little dry. Not sure that it would be possible to move the culture now. Just scoop out the biggest bits of mould and keep going with it they should come round

its been sitting on top of my tv in my room, its seldom on so gives no heat from it, and its in a shaddy corner that gets no direct light
