Hi all,

I think I remember someone saying Micro-bubbles are bad!
If so, why is this?

Does anyone know?

Mike is technically correct. Many people don't like the look of micro bubbles, however they will in no way harm MOST of your inhabitants. If you have sponges however, or any inhabitants which are found in the deep ocean where oxygen levels are extremely low, then micro bubbles will harm them. If you plan on getting a sponge its best to keep dissolved O2 levels in your aquarium to a bare minimum, if not then they will harm nothing. If you read alot you will notice that many sites which sell starfish say to never introduce them to air. This is not a viable or researched fact. They use this excuse because many starfish die for a number of reasons and this is the easiest way to explain that. In no way is exposing a starfish to air going to kill it or decrease its life. Proper acclimation is usually the death of most starfish. Also marine puffer fish need to be directly released underwater without being exposed to air. The air can become trapped inside of them and lead to death. However in your 10 gallon you cannot keep any available marine puffer so unless the micro bubbles are getting on your nerves personally, then there isn't a need to cut down on them. Usually once a skimmer breaks in, (after a few weeks or so), the micro bubbles will cut down significantly.
