Ok, so this morning, I noticed one of my mickey mouse platys didnt look so well, and was hanging around at the bottom of tha nk. I put some food in as normal for the fish, and this one didnt go for any of it.

I did notice they was a slight bump on the undrside of its belly. It was acting normal last night and looked normal. (this is the Male platy).

Anyway, hour or so later I checked on him again, but to no avail, it was as if he had disapeared. So left it a while, and I have just gone back and decided to check all the rocks and plants, still nothing. The platy is no where to be seen.

What could of happened? Nothing is around outside of the tank, and plus the cover is all on, so it must be somewhere in the tank....

In the tank I have

1 Male Dalmation Molly
2 Female Dalmation Molly
15 Neon Tetras
2 Red Platys
1 Cat fish

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Lumps that suddenly appear are usually bacterial.
Did the lump look hard or soft like filled with fluid.

What type of catfish is it as bottom dwellers will sometimes eat dead fish,.
Check the filter to see if it managed to get in there.
You will have to remove all ornaments and plants to find him.

It wasnt so much of a hard lump, it seemed like a flesh lump, as if something was hanging out, its hard to explain.

My tank is a 3ft length, and I think its roughly 24 Gal.

The catfish is an Albino Catfish. I have already had all the ornaments out, checked the filter, and in and around the plants but nothing.

I'm baffled...No fish would have surley eated it withing a hour or so..?

Wasn't the stomach or intestines hanging out was it.
Did it look like the tummy had burst open or ruptured.
Any fish gone thin lately.
Ask about the catfish in tropical discussion to see if he could of been the culprit.

Do you mean a cory or this fish here in the link.

Its hard to say what the lump/hanging out was, but they was defo something abnormal with it, as I have another Mickey Mouse platy and he is fine. All fish look okay, all eating well, no signs of diseases or stress etc, no signs of thinning either.

Sorry im a bit vague on the cat fish as it was advertised in my tropical fish centre as a 'Albino Cat Fish'

This is what he looks like

Thats fine then.
The catfish could of eaten him my corys have eaten dead fish before now.
Dosn't take them long.
Sounds like the platy was in a bad way and wouldn't of made it.
The lump did it look like something from inside the fish.
Did the lump look like a caulifower.

It looked white-ish, and instead of this fin spread out it was sort of half closed. I do think it has died, just would love to know as to what has happened to it. I checked the tank every 30mins or so, surely a fish couldnt have eating in within that time limit?

Thanks for your help :)

Found it, just. :( its dead.

Not sure what you mean if i'm honest.
All you can do is try a bacterial med in issolation if you find him.
Have you taken everything out of the tank to look for him as i've done that before now.

Ok bless him R.I.P.
Examine him and get a good look at the lump as its important.

Yeah just checked him out, seemed like a small like raise on his tummy, nothing hanging out that originally thought he did look quite thin though. He was sort of burried in the gravel, I happned to just notice his fin hanging out.

Thanks for your help :)

Bless him.
