Meth Blue For Fungus

I bought some meth blue today as my LFS recommended it for columaris, fungus (they can't sell antiobiotics) So I have put the meth blue into my hospital tank now the water is dark blue, I followed the instructions but is this right? also has anyone tried Meth Blue to treat fungus and did you have any luck and how long did you keep it in the tank???

Depends on the strain of bacteria.

My choice would of been myxazin by waterlife and pimafix.

How long does it say in the instructions before you do a water change, when using methylene blue.

What is the temp of the hospital tank.

I did use Myxacin but didn't have much luck for some reason, and the LFS also suggest Myxacin as the first choice, then recommended Meths Blue. I have the temperate at 22-23c is this okay?

It says to use anywhere between 3-7 days, I am going to do a 50% water change on Wednesday to see if there are any improvements.

hmmm did you realise that meth blue kills all bacteria incl the good bacteria in your filter. I can only remember it being a light blue colour looking at the instruction is says 5ml per 10 gals you need a concentration of 3ppm and leave it for 3 to 5 days, do a water change then replace the carbon filter. You will then need to recycle the tank.

I know my bacteria could be killed but its my hospital tank so not too worried, I bought Interpet Methleyne Blue which instructs 5ml per 5.5 gallon, so I put in 4 ml as its a 5 gallon tank. I can't even see the fish its that blue!

It's best to have the temp lower as the bacteria multiplys at higher temps.
If no improvement in 2 days, get back to the board.
