Messy Fish

Hi...I've seen the phrase 'messy fish' used around here with respect to overloading one's filtration. I know that the usual culprits are :

1) "a ten inch oscar (or pleco) in a ten inch tank"
2) overstocking your tank
3) goldfish

Are there any other fish being referred to who are 'messy'? Who are these heinous suspects? Thanks. SH

Aren't most large cichlids? You really can't have a gallon to the inch with these fish IME.

Almost all medium/large Cichlids, large plecs and other large herbivorous fish and large predatory fish with heavy appetites can all be termed as messy fish.
