Melafix...help !

I just added it to my tank and there is a bunch of foam/bubbles on the surface of my tank under where my HOB filter is. I don't recall this happening before. Is this normal

Yeah it's normal, happened to my tank as well, also happens with some other medications

What are you using the melafix for if you don't mind me asking.

I brought home a large Severum who has a few tears in his tail fin and one in his dorsal fin. I have been watching him at the LFS for 2 months and they didn't seem to be getting better or worse.

Melafix is only good on fins when they start to heal it stops them getting infected, it will do nothing on bacterial finrot.

this is slightly off-topic, but how do i know when bacterial fin rot has healed? (sometimes, when healed, the fins don't grow back or grow back slowly.)

It doesn't look like fin rot to me. I am keeping a close eye on him. I am thinking if it was bacterial it would have gotten worse or he would of died within those 2 months at the store. Is this correct ? I assumed maybe he ended up there due to being in a tank with aggresive fish nipping at his fins. He is very docile.
