i finally named him after having him for 2 weeks, and have decided on 'oscar',
he has been upgraded from a tatty 10L tank with no lid or light to a aquastart 320, which i decorated with sand substrate a few pebbles and some plants, and a little cave for 'bill' the cory to hide in, he shares the tank with a bronze cory and 9 platy fry. here are some pics of the tank

if anyone could id the plant on the right, id appreciate it, it was the only one in the lfs and i took a shine to it but have no idea of what it is!

this is oscar,in the best pic ive got of him so far without being really blurred!

can't think of the name of the plant off hand, but its usually sold as "oxygenating weed" for ponds and stuff.

he looks very happy in his new home :good:

and i love the pics where he looks purple, stunning!

ive only got one male left, i sold all my others, but hes such a character, i can watch him for hours lol

Aww hes so gorgeous

Nice tank set up too!! x

thankyou, this is my first betta ive had in about 6 years, hes so interesting to watch!

oops,i meant the plant on the right with the big leaves!!
looks like a java fern, in which case it should have a solid stem running horizontal along the bottom, joining the leaves. don't bury this bit! it needs to be exposed to the water current

there are several different varieties of java fern, and some do get quite massive. i had a big one in the oscar tank, before the silver dollars ate it! i would get it out of the pot and check if i were you. if its not you can just re-pot it, but better to be safe than sorry.

He's a beautiful colour!!! Looks like Java Fern to me, too......

Got no idea about the plant, but I think Oscar is beautiful!!!

I also think the pic you took without any fish looks really nice too :)
