Hi all! :D

This is our 6 mnth old kitten Oscar

Don't let the cute face fool you, he is such a naughty little kitty! He was born on 06/06/06 and he is living up to his  birthdate! In this pic, he is sitting in my freshly washed wok, just when I need to use it  His current favourite thing is going behind the tank (where we can't reach him) and clawing at all the wires and tubes :X As soon as you get him out and tell him off, he goes straight back. It's got to the point where we are having to shut him in what is now known as "the naughty room" for 10 mins everytime he does it! He doesn't seem to be learning a lesson from it though :X

But we absolutely adore him all the same  How can you stay cross at this little face?

"What.... ME mum?"

Spray the kitty with water when he's naughty usually learns pretty quickly then! So cute though

babybell911 - unfortunately, we seem to have one of the only cats I've ever known that isn't bothered by water at all! When we brush our teeth, he sits by the taps, and sticks his whole head under the running water until he is soaked! And if you're in the shower, he will sit on the side of the bath watching you, getting soaked by the spray.

stang1 - he may well be up for adoption if he doesn't start behaving. Anyone want a cat for Xmas

We've had his bits off already, and he's got worse since then. Woke me up at 04:00 this morning :X

Is there such a thing as Cat Borstal?

 He is so gorgeous Bex. Such a sweet little face. I must say, I have found with all our male cats that we've ever had, they not as loyal as the females and their ears don't seem to work  . But I suppose that is typical man. All the girl cats we've ever had, had been angels. No attacking everything, stuck to you like super glue. Tell him if he doesn't listen, Santa won't be bringing him any pressies!!

But he is too gorgeous. Should have called him Damian, not Oscar, especially with that birth date. YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN. How many more signs did you need

Hope you're taking pics of the fishies too then :hey:

:D

We only found out his date of birth after we'd got him home as we initially forgot to ask when we picked him up. We'd already named him Oscar. I think Satan would have been more appropriate

When he's not being naughty, he is so loving that you can't be angry at him. He'll curl up on your lap and give you little kisses. Sometimed he climbs into bed and snuggles up to you and goes to sleep, then the devil in him wakes up and, god forbid, if your toes have escaped the duvet.... ouch!!!! Love him to bits though

That pic was taken on my new phone, still trying to get a digicam :X and I'm going to try and get some fishey pics tonight - just for you Carmen as I have been promising you for ages. I tried to get the red whips the other night, but I'm not very good with phone cameras, but keep your eyes peeled and I'll see what I can get :good:

 Thanks Bex. I'll be eagerly anticipating some fishy pics.

I think the toe thing is all cats. Our girls used to love taking swipes at them while we were asleep. We also had a female lop that loved to molest your toes  . She was really crazy, used to try get it on with our male cat every time he came through the cat flap  . Poor Clovis would be trying his best to get through without being fondled and Pebbles would try hold on just long enough to get some LOVE :hey: . Unfortunately she is gone now, re homed her due to the fact that she could escape from our garden and we couldn't for the life of us find out where from. I come to the conclusion she must have learned to climb the brick wall!! The allotment owners were getting cross about some rabbit that was eating their veggies, it turned out to be her. So before they took care of her, we found her a lovely home and she's really happy there.

As for Clovis, he decided that our elderly neighbours were more his cup of tea. Unfortunately for him, they're moving next Tuesday and he's gotta come back here. There is no loyalty, I tell you.

Speak soon
Carmen :D

That's very funny, the rabbit and the cat. Never heard anything like it. Poor Clovis, no wonder he went next door

I hope he settles down when he comes back to you. At least he can come through the cat flap without fear of the randy bunny

Well, the look on his face when Pebbles got hold of him looked like sheer horror, but he really did miss her when she left. He'd look under all our bushes and trees for her, but no bunny :/ . I'm not being nasty, but I'm really glad they're moving. They told us it wasn't their fault he was coming round, but then told us how he loves the food they buy him and sleeps in front of the fire in their lounge!!! Yeah, what ever!! The new people moving in have 2 cats, and Clovis for some reason, is petrified of other cats. So I'm sure he'll be back here in a flash!!

Aw, bless him. People always do that with cats that aren't theirs and I think it's wrong. If you keep feeding a strange cat that comes round, they will keep coming round. They shouldn't have been buying food for him. Oh well, good riddance to them, I'm sure he will settle back in with you guys once the other cats turn up. Is he the only cat you have or do you have any more?

Hi Bex

No, Clovis is an only cat  , make is sound like an only child. Back in South Africa we had a few cats, because we lived on a 7 acre plot with mice and rats (we had a huge "mountain" rockery on the back that they lived in) as well as moles, so they were good for keeping them out the house.

But since living here, in the small house with small garden, one cat was enough. I'd rather have a dog though, but there really is no space. The kids are desperate for a dog, but they'll have to wait till we get a place of our own (we're renting) and hopefully then we can get them a dog.

Is Oscar an only cat??

We considered getting one of his brothers or sisters, but I'm very glad we only got him now. We live in a rented flat (ground floor) so it wouldn't be fair to have 2. I don't think I could cope with 2 cats being as naughty as him  We'd also love a dog, but not while we're in a flat.

We have to keep Oscar inside as well, because we are very close to a main road, where lots of stupid kids that have just passed their driving test race up and down at full speed. I've already seen a few cats run over there and he is such a curious little thing that I don't want him going on the road.

Plus, in the flats opposite, there are 3 evil, nasty cats that attack any other cat that goes into the forcourt. One of them was constantly trying to get in our flat window to get to our last cat Vivian. Until the hubby got it with a full mug of cold water that is. I often hear cat fights and it's always one of these cats.

It wouldn't be fair to keep 2 cats cooped up inside, and I just know Oscar would end up hurt if he went out. Vivian used to go out, but she never went further than the forcourt and always stayed close by. Oscar is so curious he's be off like a shot and I'd be so worried about him. He doesn't seem bothered by it, he never tries to get out the door or anything. Might be why he's so naughty though

Your place in SA sounds amazing! Why the move to UK?

Don't feel bad, I have a cat like that. You can spray him with water, make loud noises, yell, plead, cry. All to know avail. He just sits wherever he isn't supposed to be (usually the dining table) and looks at me. The only thing that works is to pick him up and take away from whatever he's doing. And he knows he's bad, because when I walk over to him he flattens out as best he can, all 16lbs of him. And it never fails, 5 minutes later he's back to being naughty. He's so darn cute though, I just can't stay mad.

Your little monster is adorable too.

Thanks dthoffsett, it's good to know I'm not the only one then!

Oscar has spent all weekend "helping" me decorate for Xmas... basically pulling down anything I put up!

Like you say, they're just too cute to get angry at!

Yup, I quit decorating for christmas for that very reason.
