hi yall i have a 80 gallon tank, with 7 neon tetra 4 golden pencil fish 2 albino corys 2 sharks, but i not sure what type of shark (red-tailed?) and a plec, i know how big these get but have a nice sized pond outside waiting for it all are babies and i am looking for something that is a bit larger to add some size varity to my tank, but im relitivly new to fish keeping so..... any ideas? :hyper:

first of all hi tetrafan and welcome to TFF :D
thats a nice sized tank.

The sharks wont go with small fish im afraid :X they get nippy and i wouldnt be suprized if those little neons start dissapearing soon.It does depend though and you need to identify weather you have a ruby shark or red tailed black shark.Take a good luck as they look very similar!

red tailed black shark=http://www.craigcentral.com/images/shark1.gif
ruby shark=http://badmanstropicalfish.com/cyprinids/ruby_shark1.jpg

anyway i suggest that you bulid up your shoals of neons.they look really nice in a big shoal. Also corys need to be in groups of 5 or more so you should get more of them.

thanx for ure post, i have looked at pictures wich where very useful and they are the red tailed blaks, definatly. i agree with the tetra theory, am thinking that when i get my new corys of getting more neons about 10 and and 12 x-ray tetras(they are on special offer and look real cool) but have you got any idea of something a bit bigger?
EDIT: are things like barbs ok in a tetra and catfish tank?
EDIT:do corys really have to be in groups of 5 or more in a 80g tank?
EDIT:please post soon my little bro is peeing himself with exitment, im writing this for him, he only 4 and cant write.

Depends what sort of barb. I'd avoid tiger barbs. You've got some room to play with in that tank, how about a few red line torpedo barbs? Grow to roughly 6 inches, look great (see avatar).

You should be OK as long as you remove ONE of the sharks. You'll need to keep an eye on it, but unless the other fish is shark shaped, most sharks won't bother them. They aren't nippy as such, but they will defend their territory against potential threats to it... i.e. other sharks.

Take a good luck as they look very similar!

I think you'll find it you look again that the RTBS is the FAR more attractive fish. :hey:

thanks for all your tips, i am currently working on the tetra theme, earlier today, i bought
4 minnow
4 blood fin tetra
4 black phantom tetra
4 glowlight tetra
and might get a barb later on
