Medication & Filter

I will have to add a medication for fin rot.

Do i only need to remove the carbon in the filter and leave in the bio rings and sponge ?

Just remove the carbon from you filter - theres no need to remove anything else.

Then replace it when you've finished treatment.

i am about to do the same thing-- this will not mess up the 'cycle' will it? (maybe a really dumb question! Sorry)

If you are using an antibiotic, then it will not mess with the cycle. If you are using an anti bacterial or anti parasite med, then it will mess with the cycle, since it will kill the benificial bacteria. Unless the meds specificy that it will not interfere with the cycle.
