I posted on the emergency board today because we've been having a lot of sudden deaths in our tank lately. This morning I'd noticed one of my Silver Dollars had a cloudy eye. I read what others thought it might be and based off the description I think its probably Cloudy Eye. My spouse is stopping by the fish store on the way home from work to pick up some Dechlor and some sort of anti-bacterial treatment. But I had a few questions regarding this.

1. Can these two treatments be mixed together at the same time?
2. We have a Brown Knife Fish (not African Knife). What dosage should we use with him in the tank on these treatments?

The dehlorinator won't have any effect on the medication. It's what you needed when you filled the tank or did water changes to get rid of the chlorine and chloramines. Other than that it generally doesn't do anything unless it's something like Prime that also neutralizes ammonia. I'm not aware of any reason the BKF (don't know anything about them though but most medications are safe for all fish) would change the dosage. You should be able to treat as directed on the package. Just check the package labels and see if it says it is safe for your bacteria colony. Some medications will completely wipe out your nitrifying bacteria meaning you have to cycle the tank over again and when it is fully stocked, that is very difficult to do.
