Hello

I have a tank which has a platy that needs treating as this morning i noticed he has a very small white patch of fungus. I dont have a quarantine tank and my tank also contains 3 x amano shrimps. I know I cannot use any copper meds because of this but I have eSha 2000 fungus finrot and bacteria treatment. Trouble is it does not list the ingredients so I dont know if it contains copper or if its safe to use with my shrimps? Can anyone tell me please?

Had a quick google for ya, from what I can find these are the ingredients for Esha 2000

6.3mg ethacridine lactate (Rivanol)
1 mg Proflavin
3.2 mg copper 2+
0.26 methyl orange

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much. im cross it did not list the ingredients and did not say it was unsafe for shrimp - very irresponsible!!

Can anyone recommend meds that are sfe and effective that they have used?

Myxazin or Pimafix for fungus :good:

How are you water stats?
Is the patch white fuzzy in appearance?
Other tank mates? Apart from the shrimp?

Water stats are good

Ph 7.6

Amonia 0

Nitrites 0

Nitrates 25

I do a gravel vac and 25 % water change every week.

I think he will be ok - ive had a good look at it and I think its a scale thats got half knocked off and has turned pale rather than fungus, so i'll keep an eye on him - he continually fights with the other platy. I got 2 males as i didnt want babies (cant stand it when they get gobbled up) and the platies ive kept in the past have always got on but not these two!

Tank includes 3 x amano shrimp, 2 x German blue rams, 1 x gourami, 1 x guppy, 6 x zebra danios, 1 x Bn plec and 4 x black phantom tetras.

Well its good if its not fungus, you could use some melafix to help heal up the wound, but I would do some regular water changes for a few weeks, as the clean water will help :good:
