Hey. I've just recently started keeping rainbow fish so didn't know much about them. I have 3 bosami females and a male and female turquoise rainbow fish. The male is meaner than hell and constantly corals the 12 congo tetras to one side of the tank though he ignores the female turquoise rainbow fish and steers clear of the two female kribensis who just don't take any crap from anyone. I just didn't know rainbow fish could be so aggressive. They have those tiny mouths while congo tetras have some serious teeth.

🤔 rainbows and tetras need opposite water requirements though?

I had a boesemani who was exactly the same until I made the group bigger and added a male larger than the offender

The turquoise rainbowfish, Melanotaenia lacustris, needs of group of at least six but eight is preferable, and in a sufficiently-large space (tank size here is not given). It requires moderately hard water. More info here:

I would not keep this fish with Congo Tetras, as the Congos are nowhere near being able to hold their own against such fish.
