hello . so i started a new tank for the shrimp . its been going a few weeks now and the ammonium is going up still , 1 or  2 but no sign of nitrite , i thought i was doing ok but just read something ells here about cycling and it has confused me  ,  have i stalled ?

any ideas if its ok or what to test or what to do to do to get it going ?

cheers foir any help . ta d

Nitrite eating bacteria take the longest to come into play! Keep up with the water changes be patient it can seem like for ever Lol!! Ull get there!!
Also water changes are needed if ammonia rises above 0.25ppm Ull need some for the bacteria to feed and grow on however not to much to stress any live stock!!

In saying that tho the ammonia bacteria convert it into nitrite! What's ur Ph? higher temps and Ph move things along slot quicker!!

hello , the ph is about 7.6 so i guess that's ok . iv not got a heater in there yet but should be here very soon so fingers crossed that will help . cheers for tips :)

OK cool hope it doesn't take too long for u! Can take some time tho!!!

This is my readings now :)

Do you think that looks ok ? Should I be water changeling to lower the niterate do you think ? Cheers d

25% wouldn't hurt they do say to do water changes during a cycle just nothing drastic! Helps keep ur Ph up too during the cycling it's possible for the Ph to crash which can cause a halt in the process so water changes help with this if I remember correctly!!
