After my false alarm today I didn't get to put my fish in their new home as I could get nothing done with the kids and I want to do it properly so the only chance I'll get of some peace is Saturday afternoon. The tank looks fab though, I put a piece of bin bag on the back and it makes a difference. My redmoor is still a bit floaty in the bath so I won't rush that. My question is that I put the water into the tank today and I have the heater on. No filter on. Will that water be ok to add fish and media to on Saturday or should it be fresh?

have you cycled the tank? no filter? no heater and you want to put tropical fish in it in 2 days? fish that you have currently in your bathtub in tap water with no filtration?

i must have missed something..

i guess, if this is actually what is happening.. sure. they can't die any faster than they already are.

Creeker I'm only asking as I don't want to add fish if it's not up to scratch by being left for a couple of days. Eh, yes, CrazyCiclaMomma. My fish are alive and well in their current tank. New tank has water in with heater on. Media and fish will be moved on Saturday and media will be placed into new filter. Wood is soaking in bathtub. Fish? Bathtub?

it will be fine, water without fish in cant suddenly become toxic over night. Just move fish and media when you have time tomorrow.

No problem, just remember not to let your filter media dry out when you move it, as long as its damp it will be fine. Good luck with it.

ok fintastic, i didn't understand that your fish were in a cycled tank and you were just moving them to a new tank with their cycled filter. the way i read it you had the fish in the bathtub and you were just going to put the fish into an unfiltered unheated tank 2 days after filling the tank.
