In the last week i have lost 6 fish:

2 Angels
2 Pictus Catfish
2 Bristlenose Plecs

The water readings have been standard over the past weeks:

Ammonia Nil
nitrate Nil
Nitrate 40
Ph 7.6

I have recently started using Tetra plant Depot C02 gas to help feed the plants..............dosing each day as advised on the can.The only thing i have noticed is a lot more green "hairy" algae in the tank.Up to using this C02 all seemed ok.............could this be the problem?

All the fish i have left look very healthy................has anybody any ideas what is going on?

My tank is 180 lite jewell and i have approx 20 fish left.............a mix of mollies, guppies, angels and gouramis.
I do a 255 water change weekly.

Please help................

thanks

Can't comment on the C02 as no nothing about it.

Any symtoms to go on.

I would ask about the C02 in tropical discussion.

The fish that died did they show any symtoms.
If no signs of darting, erratic swimming, flicking and rubbing, laboured breathing or gasping at surface of tank, excess mucas on gills or body of fish, grains of salt, or a gold dust on the fish,
I would maybe do some water changes and add a bacterial med.
Just check that the fish that died is not related to the C02.

I would maybe think about adding a bacterial med if you lost six fish and showing no signs of the above symtoms I listed.

You live near me lol.
Used to go to epworth alot.

Anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

I am still losing fish........approx 1 per day. They show no symptoms of disease,etc..or any strange behaviours?
I have done water changes, all water tests are fine ( API water test kit)
I have stopped dosing with the Tetra C02 as advised by a friend.....he said the green algae that is growing like mad can be causing lack of oxygen at night for the fish?

can anybody else help what I can do ?

Thanks

Just increase aeration.
Over filtering the tank helps.
Have you used a bacterial med.

Just has another Angel die..........
I have noticed that its eye appeared red and bloodshot round the edge?
I have noticed one of my Gouramis has the same problem with its eye.

Has anybody any ideas if this is the problem with the deaths and what it is -also what can I do ?

thanks

Add a bacterial med to the tank.
Made sure the eye not buliging out.
Anything gotten into the tank. Been using any chemicals near the tank.
Any signs of darting, laboured breathing, excess mucas on fish gills or body, or fish turning upside down.
Check the fish eyes to make sure there no white specs behind the eye lens.
For green algae you need to black out the tank.

I would post about your algae problem over in tropical discussion.
