is there anyway of measuring or telling how much O2 is in the tank???

sorry if this sounds ridiculous!!!

Spends loads a cash on a 'real' kit that can test or watch the fish. If they swim O is OK. If they float it isn't.

Sorry there is no better answer.

There are test kits available, they are okay, not that accurate, most use meters, but they cost a lot.
Practical experience and giving good current in the tank helps, enough surface moevement so the surface's water does not break, but has a nice ripple.
More flow is generally better than less.
Good plant growth= good O2 also.
