I think I am going to take my Fluval 2 and put it into my new tank when it is all set-up this week. The Fluval currently runs in my Uno 60 that I have set-up. Would I be better to take some media out of it and put into the Juwel filter at 1 end of the tank and leave some in it and run the Fluval at the other end. That is the quickest way I can think to get the tank up to maturity. I am also going to transer 1 plec, 1 garra and 4 neons into new tank to keep the bacteria levels up. Should I also add some more fish straight away as the current filter is working with the above fish plus 4 platies and 5 pentazona barbs and the last thing I want is for the bacteria levels to drop.
The old tank is going to my Mum's house and whereas I was going to keep fish in it all the time I think I am now going to use it to quarantine new purchases before they go into my main tank. My main concern is whether it is OK to have my quarantine tank approx. 2 mile from where the main tank will be. I will probably leave the fish in quarantine tank for 2-3 weeks then transfer them by car to main tank at my house. Is there any problem with doing this??
