I wonder if any kind soul would be happy to donate / swap for some libation some mature media? I'm near Swindon but I would be happy to travel to pick it up from you to save you any hassle - I could happy cover the M4 (though into Wales might be a fair stretch) and say an hour / and hour and half from Swindon. I work over in Aylesbury so that opens up another part of the country.... :)

Any takers (feel free to PM me)? :)

There is a list of members who are willing to donate here, http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/150631-list-of-members-willing-to-donate-mature-filter-media-to-newbies/

I would help. I'm from Crawley however my tanks havn't cycled yet I'm afraid. But I'm sure it will be there or there abouts in a week if it's any use to you?

I havnt got a large amount though.

What filter have you got?

I'll take anything frankly :) I have a Ehiem 275 so have about 6 litres of filter space but seeding even a little part of it would help :)

Ok. Well I'm away for a few days and my tank is very nearly cycled so not long to wait.

However I am about 2.15 hours drive from you.

As nice as it is to offer a donation, its not really wise to split away a bacterial colony so soon and because bacteria are quite "random" you really know what parts of your media have a large quantity of bacteria to those that have little. I would suggest the offer is retracted for now, for your own sake :)

Miles, have you tried your local aquatic shops? Often as not they have massive display tanks on the floor below the smaller tanks with buckets of large filter media in them. If they have this kind of setup, you might find them willing to give you a few chunks. Well worth a phone call to ask, or do it in person when its harder for them to refuse.

I'll give it a try - if you don't ask you will never get as they say; thought I thought that the normal response people have reported here was rather negative; I'm up for anything. I certainly don't want to compromise Fishy's newly cycled tank (unless Fishy is happy to give it a try!)

Yeh ok I think that is best.

Sorry miles but yeh I am so close to getting out of daily water changes I dont really want to start doing them again.

Your local LFS will be a good place to start, and yeh if you don't ask the answer is always no.

Sorry again. If in a month or 2 your still struggling let me know and I will see what I can do.
