Mating Convicts

Hi I have a pair of maiting convicts in a 29 gal tank. They have had 1 bach of fry and were awsom parents. After about 3 weeks I took all the fry out and now I think I have a problem. I thout they were going to make another batch of eags she even seemed to get fat like she did befor but after a few days the males color washed out and he started acting crazy. The female was moving rocks like normal making her nest so to speak but now the male is trying to kell her I think so now I have 2 washed out looking convict and she is slim now. Will they pair back up or is it a lost cause? any sugestions?

Well they were geting out of hand last night even with the light out so I just droped them both in my 65gal and now he is not trying to kill her and my other fish have put him in his place as far as the pecing order goes.
